Re: Very frustrated with ReefAngel

Roberto,

Please view my post titled "Connection issue with Head Unit and Comm Cable" from about 9-10 months ago. I tried different cables - same issue. The joystick sticks even without the cover in place.

Very frustrated with ReefAngel

Roberto, After returning my unit due to a head unit connection issue - and buying a new controller board - I am having similar problems. Now my daylights do not come on. In troubleshooting, I see that by jiggling the cable connecting the head unit, the lights do flicker and I can position it so that...

Re: Connection issue with Head Unit and Comm Cable

No, not screwed too tight. I removed front cover and worked joystick around without cover. It sticks continuously in the UP position only, and yes I can pull it down to stop it. Can I remove the joystick and reseat it? - or shouldn't I even try?

Otherwise, things work just fine.

Re: Connection issue with Head Unit and Comm Cable

Roberto,

I just connected the head unit with the new board that you installed. The scroll button sticks and menus continue to scroll. For example, I go to change the date and time and it just keeps scrolling fast. This never happened.

What can I do?

New cable, same results. I am assuming that the board's connection is the issue. Your thoughts?

Connection issue with Head Unit and Comm Cable

Roberto, Today, I noticed that my first relay box was not working. As I looked into this, I unplugged and disconnected the head unit. As I plugged things back in, the lights flickered but stayed off. As i worked with it, there is definitely an issue between the head unit and the communication cable....

Wifi issue

Roberto, I am starting over and have attempted to start from scratch. I have created a simple sketch for my RA which works. Now trying to reinstall my wifi attachment following the manual. The wifi attachment does flash blue and green. When I open the wifi utility and try to connect, this is what I ...

Re: Replacement salinity probe reading high

35.0 - 35.2. Perfect

I just allowed the 35 solution to float in tank for a while. I didn't realize that temp had such an impact.

Thank you Roberto!

Re: Replacement salinity probe reading high

I brought the 35 solution to tank temp. Now I'm getting 35.8, 36.0, ...

Much closer. I will work on it.

Thanks!

Re: Replacement salinity probe reading high

That makes sense. I will do that, as well as bring my 35 solution to tank temp.

I am also having a friend double check a sample of my tank water for salinity.

Re: Replacement salinity probe reading high

During calibration, the numbers fluctuate around 2930. After calibration the probe (still in 35 solution) reads 357 - 361. Much closer. Placed in tank water it reads 390. From this, I would assume my water is too high. So, I check with a hydrometer and calibrated refractometer. Both read 35 dead on....

Re: Replacement salinity probe reading high

Roberto,

I have tried several times. I recalibrated and still get high readings. You can see in my charts that the salinity reads around 38-41. Could I be missing something in my code? My probe is not fully submersed? Should it be?

Replacement salinity probe reading high

Roberto, I've installed the replacement probe and get high readings. Each time I attempt to calibrate I get similar results. When calibrating, as the probe sits in 35 solution, the numbers fluctuate around 2768, not in the 3000s, like before. After calibrating, my tank reads 421 on the controller. M...

Re: Salinity error

No, nothing I can see.

It does have a rust-like spot on the wire, similar to the original one. Would a picture help?

Re: Salinity error

When calibrating, it fluctuates from 250-350, not the 3000+ you'd expect.

The probe clearly has fluid inside. It is 3/4 full or more.

The water in the bnc connection appears to have come from inside the cable, if that's possible. The outside of the cable and connector seem dry.

Re: Salinity error

Roberto, Received package today. Installed it and calibrated in 35 solution. It read 3320. This sounds like the correct range, from what you have said before. I knew my salinity was high and it read about what I expected. As I lowered my tank's salinity, probe seems to read as expected. It looks lik...

Re: Salinity error

At the tip of the probe itself, one of the wires connecting the small plate within the glass, seems to have some significant rust. Is there a way to send you a picture?

Re: Salinity error

Then I try to recalibrate and while calibrating
35.0ppt solution reads 0, no fluctuation
Tap water reads 0, no fluctuation
Tank fluctuates around 570 +/- 10

Does this make any sense?
