Storing Probes
Hi Guys, I have recently shut down my tank while I redesign it and I have a Salinity, ORP and PH Probe that I need to store while I do my works for a few months. I'm going to make it better then ever! What is the best and safest way to store them so that they don't become inaccurate? Is there a cert...

Re: Electrical plugs
egadgetjr, I think i'm going to have to run with your idea, it looks very neat. Any tips? Should be relatively straight forward though I think. BTW, what is the white control box for? Not really... All I can say is think ahead and plan it on paper. I didn't, and have screwed up my order. and can't ...

Re: Controlling a relay (not relay box)
I might give that a go. Just play around a bit more to get it to tell me what's going on.
I keep getting the odd random email a couple of times a day telling me ORP is on the sometimes off when it hasn't change to be high enough to turn of. It's weird

Usually when it throws the characters the baud rate it's using to communicate isn't right. What have you got it set to?

Re: Controlling a relay (not relay box)
:( It did work (I'm fairly sure), but now when I go to fully use it and put the Ozoneator (Box1_Port6) actually plugged in (been breaking in my orp probe so I didn't want it on during inaccurate readings), I find its not working properly.... What seems to be happening is, the ozone relay trigger (Bo...

Re: RA as a ph controller?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it might be:
Or
Code: Select all
ReefAngel.PHControl(byte PHControlRelay);
Code: Select all
ReedAngel.PHControl(byte PHControlRelay, int LowPH, int HighPH);

Question for you. Can you confirm the date/time on your RA. Second, were you having rebooting (time travel) issues that you're working on with Roberto on? Some of the data in your custom variables seems a little eratic, and just trying to see if we're overlapping with the other issues. Sorry if I'm...

Re: Controlling a relay (not relay box)
That would be awesome Lee
If by manually you mean using the wall wart to trigger the separate relay to act as a switch, then yes. Lol. All the hardware is working perfectly when the relay is triggered for at least 1 second (short bursts don't work).

Re: Controlling a relay (not relay box)
That actually makes sense. I took that bit of code from the Autofeeder part (it was an early post Lee put up). I tried to adapt it and I guess I broke it. lol. My first adaptation of it, i think the Loop() was calling it and it just kept setting now() to the time plus 2 seconds all the time. So, doe...

Re: Controlling a relay (not relay box)
Ok, I'm stuck. lol. Until I can figure out the IO module method of doing this, I'm using a wall wart as you (lee) suggested to trigger a relay on, and then off. Now, I've tried using the autofeeder code, but I don't know what it is about it, but I just can't get it to work the way I need it too. In ...

I have still not had a crash at all since I unplugged the dimming module.

Well it looks like it's defiantly the dimming module. Has run for 12 hours+ now and no crash/hang/time travelling.
What would be the next best thing to so Roberto?

Just to add, when it did it last night the PH Exp dropped off and showed err like it wasn't plugged in.
I was just looking on the portal then and I think it's done it again on ragen code

I think your bus was locked. That's why you needed to disconnect the hub. What expansion modules do you have? Hey Roberto, The first time it happened I only had the dimming module, relay expansion and expansion hub plugged in. The second time it was running the same as above but PH exp. was also pl...

Time Travelling Reef Angel
So, I'm having this weird thing happening with me RA+. The other night I uploaded my code that I wrote (based off the RAgen code with a few changes) and within a few hours the RA went crazy. The date was saying it was 03/07/43 and a time it wasn't 08:16:35 PM at 6:10 in the morning (I noted that the...

Thanks for the advice, I will go with the plus. Egadgetjnr, since you are also using the aquastyle leds, do you know if I need to order a dimming port lead wire for each led driver? Or will the drivers already come with the cables needed to plug into the pwm ports? I'm not fully familiar with those...

Oh! You can do that? Is there a max voltage/amperage you can out through it? Does it kinda become a relay itself?

Re: Controlling a relay (not relay box)
Ahhhhh! The good old wall wart. I think I might do that. I only need it to trigger momentarily (about 1 second or maybe less) Could I also use a pin on the same relay (double pole I guess) that can tie in with my IO module to ensure it closes/turns off after it's been triggered?) I saw the auto feed...

Re: Electrical plugs
I thought it was an ideal way of converting to Australian without modifying the relay box. :p
Was pretty cost effective too and allows for the cables to be run neatly as well.
