Multiple RA's in one house

Post by rossbryant1956 »

I have a friend that has four 300 gallon tanks in his house and I'd like to get them all on Reef Angel. Two of them are close enough to share a unit but the other two are not. How would I configure the wifi unit(s) to be able to monitor those RA units separately? Each wifi would grab their own IP, but would I use different ports for each so I get each tank out on the portal? Thanks in advance.

Just to add a bit more information incase any one else is wondering how. This would be configured in your "router"

RA1 <-Internal IP:port-> 192.168.1.10:9000 <-External IP:Port-> 68.125.120.72:9000 (example ip's)
RA2 <-Internal IP:port-> 192.168.1.11:9000 <-External IP:Port-> 68.125.120.72:9001
RA3 <-Internal IP:port-> 192.168.1.12:9000 <-External IP:Port-> 68.125.120.72:9002

You could also mess with the wifi settings to change the default port but I would just leave it standard and configure it in your firewall/router.

+1 That would be my recommendation as well.

So you are saying leave the RA wifi settings standard (port 2000 or whatever) and then map outside IP's individual incoming port(s) to a particular ip address and standardly assigned port on the inside? Thx

Yeah, and you should be able to point your phone app to the external ip/dns and it should work inside your net or out.

That's what I do on my home network with my 2 test units.

Longshot but by chance does anyone know how I would accomplish this on A XFINITY Cisco DPC3941T Gateway? Still early in my exploring the new unit I'm calling it a night now but thought I'd let this soak for a bit before I stress out some more tomorrow night =)..
