Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
Hey guys,
so after my previous RF issues:
http://forum.reefangel.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3424
I managed to sort out the mode changing etc by rolling back to 1.0.3 libraries....
I have recently been adding my Livestock back in to the tank, added fish on sunday and went to feed them.
I pushed feed mode on the controller itself, and it didnt trigger the RF module into feeding mode. What it did do was turn on one of my light units (on Port 2)
The only port i have specified for feed mode is Port 5 (Tunze powerhead) so I dont know why this would be happening.
Any ideas?
Attached is my ino

Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
Now the weird thing I have literally just tried to use feed mode from the portal and that is working fine :/
Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
They are the same thing
Can you try again with the controller?

Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
Same story Its turning on my solarmax, not turning off the tunze, and pushing it twice doesnt turn off the Solarmax either
Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
Can you reboot and see if there is something messed with your overrides?
It shouldn't turn ports on.

Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
So I noticed that what happened after the pump went into feed mode from the Portal, The pump got "stuck" on very low speed even though it was reporting back at 65%
I just rebooted the controller and the pump is back to true 65%
Roberto, I will test tomorrow when I get home again, as I have to run out now so wont have time to test fully

Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
If you use android or Portal, does it show port 2 overridden ON?
Use your web browser and go to http://ipaddress:2000/r99
Post the XML data that you get back.
Now, enter Feeding mode and refresh the page or browse to the same address again.

Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
Nothing has changed.
The feeding mode didn't do anything.
Do you have the FeedingModePorts setup correctly?
Did it turn on your lights this time too?

As far as I know they are setup correctly - no need to setup RF feeding mode right?rimai wrote:Nothing has changed.

It didn't turn on my lights, but this is what happens:
From controller, the vortech doesn't go into feed mode. However, if my tunze port is off, it goes on (which is set to turn off for feed mode)
From portal, the vortech goes into feed mode, but after feed time ends, the pump does not go back to full power, it will continue at the feed mode power but mode will be reefcrest. The portal shows the pump operating as normal. I have to reboot controller to get pump back to full speed

I can't think of a reason why this would happen, except for that you are using the old drivers.
Were you ever able to get the feeding mode to work on these old drivers before??

Yeah on my old tank I was running old drivers and it worked 100%rimai wrote:I can't think of a reason why this would happen, except for that you are using the old drivers.

I will try update the drivers I guess and see what happens

Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
I updated the libraries to 1.0.9
Pushed Feed Mode twice (on the controller) and nothing happened.
Pushed it a third time and my vortech controller went into feed mode, RF module stays same colour (If I remember it used to flash white in feed mode) and on the controller, it doesnt show "Feed Mode" or the countdown like it used to.
After feed mode ended, the vortech is still not ramping back up to a true 65%, have to reboot the controller for it to go back to normal
AND, every time i hit feed mode, it turns my Tunze port on (from off) and not vice versa

Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
Can you post your current code again? Very odd behavior with the tunze. Whats odd is the output from the controller appears the same and your display should show the countdown...
I've had issues with the rf module because the connection would sometimes come out and it would not reset properly on the controller bus.
My recommendation would be to try reseating the connection to the RF module and then reset the controller and try again.
Also, is your RF module plugged into expansion hub? Or direct to relay box. If to the relay box, i would 1) confirm you are using the correct svga cable that came with the RA. 2) try another SVGA cable if possible. Make sure it's got all 15 pins. The reasoning here is maybe the signal is getting messed up and is sending signals destined for the rf module to the relay?? I know it's out there but it IS strangd behavior...

I will try reseating the cable for the module, but it works fine to change modes etc?
My module is plugged directly in relay box, i dont have an expansion module....
The SVGA cable is the one that was bundled with the RA, all other commands work fine through the app and portal. I will have to try get my hands on a new SVGA cable (Im in IT so will chat to my suppliers) but i did inspect the pins before i connected it and all looked fine
Since I shut down my old tank and kept my RA in storage for a few months, it has just been doing strange things :/

Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
Ok, I don't see anything that stands out in your code. But let's try a few things.
1) water change mode - dies everything shut off properly as expected?
2) can you rerun the feeding mode test and check the r99 output from head unit. ROFF should not be 255 during feeding mode.
3) Remove RA from your computer and re-install fresh. Re-initialize controller with the memory initialization sketch. Then use the wizard and regenerate a new code. It doesn't look like you have anything too advanced in there that we can't re-merge later. Test again.

1) I actually never use WC mode, lol. Usually just turn stuff off manually
2) Will do after work and post the results
3) I will do that if all else fails - trying to avoid resetting up

I've been trying to get the XML data but the pump WILL NOT go into feed mode at all
Looks like I'm gonna have to initialize the controller

Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
Hi guys,
I recently made some changes to my hardware config and thought that it would be an opportune time to initialise the controller to try fix this issue. (I had to revert to 1.0.7 lib because of "sketch too big" with newer libs)
So, I initialised, ran the wizard and generated my code. uploaded and all seems to work well. EXCEPT!!!! (dum dum dummmmmm)
The Vortech still has this exact same issue with feed/Water change mode. It doesnt return to full power unless I reboot the Vortech.
I also set my Tunze (Port 5) to alternate on/off every 8 min, but it doesnt seem to be working either
Please help

Re: Feeding Mode not triggering Vortech
It's gotta be something with the old vortech drivers.
For your Port5, did you double check the wm intervals on your phone or portal?
What happens if you hard code like this:

I haven't checked the portal yet. Unfortunately the iOS app is limited at the moment so can't check from there.
I'll try from the portal and if necessary hard code it
Thanks

I changed the wave maker delay from the portal and it seems to be working.
It was set to something random like 62354?
Just the vortech issue now
