"Error Uploading" whenever trying to upload

Post by oconnellp »

I have seen multiple users complain of this issue, but I haven't seen a fix yet.

I am trying to upload custom code using the wizard, but I get this message every time I attempt to upload:
The following features were automatically added:
Watchdog Timer
Version Menu

Using Port : \\.\COM3
Using Programmer : stk500v2

Rebooting Reef Angel Controller

avrdude: Recv:
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_getsync(): timeout communicating with programmer

avrdude done. Thank you.
I have a ReefAngel Plus and I have Arduino set to "ReefAngel Plus Controller" and "COM3". I have tested using the other controller board settings, but they don't work either.
I have tried using different USP slots but I still get the same result.
I have the USP cable connected just as it shows in the manual.

Can anyone help me figure out what's going on? This is getting very frustrating.
Thanks,
Paul

Does the controller reboot a few seconds after you hit upload?

Anyone?

One thing I noticed is that my cable is not wired exactly like to cable in the picture. The cable in the picture is wired Green - Yellow - Orange - Red - Brown - Black. My cable is wired Green - Orange - Yellow - Red - Brown - Black. Could this be what the issue is?

I may very well be.
The cable may have been assembled wrong. Can you switch?

I'm not quite sure how. Will I need any sort of crimping tool to do it?

No, no need to crimp anything. They are already crimped.
If you look at the black plastic connector, in the back, there are some latches that prevent the metal pin from sliding off. You can lift that latch and the pin will be free to slide off. Do this for both wires and reverse their order when you slide them back in.

Yep, that was the issue. I switched the wires into the correct sequence and it works fine now. Thanks for the help.
