Checking everything twice and now I am not sure if I have this right. The PWM module power supply I have is 12 V DC but I know the output max range is 10. so did I wire the wrong one up. I have many around and thought I had put this one asside but want to be sure I am ok.

Yes, you feed 12VDC to the module, but internally it will limit the output to 10VDC
