A Little help PLEASE

Post by Paulturner911 »

Im looking in to buying a controller. I have a few questions.....
Do I need the hub expander if I am going to run the wifi and a salinity probe?
How many temp probes does the unit come with?
Is this unit capable of data logging and graphing?
What is more common in LED drivers as far as dimming? I have a non dimmable driver no and was thinking to purchase a new drive to mimic sunrise sunset. Should I get PMW or Analog?
Can you put a pigtail splitter on a recptacle from the relay unit to act as both of my MH ballasts are one plug?

Thanks

WiFi - no, salinity yes, supports three temp probes, comes w one. Yes to graphing and logging via the portal. As to drivers, get dimmable and make sure they controllable by RA. Analog or Pwm depends on driver but most Pwm. I use surge protectors off a single port all the time, prob just a limit to amt of current you can draw. come on in. the water is fine

You don't need the hub if you are only using the wifi and salinity.
The wifi uses another port.
It comes with one temp probe.
I would highly recommend not pluggibg more than one driver/ballast per port.

I plan on using 2 temp probes, 1 ph and possibly the salinity. Will i need the hub expander? Can you use the moon light kit on the analog dimming unit? Can the unit network via rj45 hardwire?

Moonlights yes.
You should be all good!
Out for now...but not over.

How long is the cable for the dimmable moonlight kit from RA?

Actually, you will only get full dimming using the PWM.
Analog has a really high cut off.
The cable is about 3feet, but you can just splice it to extend.

Yes, MW. How many "legs" can it run including the moon light? IE...I would like to run the moon light, whites and actinics all as individual legs. Would I need the PWM expansion inorder to do so? Probably the eln30-48 on 12 cree xr-e.

Each port can output 40mA.
The meanwell drivers I think draws about 4mA each.
RA moonlight draws about 25mA

I would be controlling them seperate (3-W,B,ML). How many ports are on the RA+ out of the box? I cannot tell in the picture. How exactly are they controlled? I see it looks like landing terminals for 18g wire, what about the 120 plug? Does the 120v go in to my relay module and the driver output go into the PWM controller and then an output from the PWM module to my CREE PCB? Sorry to ask soo many questions, I just dont want to be pulling the trigger on the incorrect unit.

There are two ports on the relay box itself. The pwm module has 6. The 120v can either go to a relay or uncontrolled outlet somewhere else.

Your driver should have 6 wires... AC in +/-. LED +/- and DIM +/-

I see.. Thanks! I currently have MW lpc-35-700...which are not capable of dimming. I looking to place my order this week. I'm getting:
RA+ PWM
Moon light kit
A second temp probe for room temp
Wifi

Can anyone think of anything I'm missing? Any dongles, pigtails or extenders I may need. Any and all input would be great.

I'm really hoping this RAWizard is as simple as it sounds. I'm sure I'll stumble my way through it!!!

Thanks a bunch

It looks like the Moon light kit comes with the dimming port lead wire. Is that correct? So I would only need to buy a single DPLW for the MW ELN driver?
