HELP! PWM dimming problems !

Post by njones »

http://shop.stevesleds.c om/Biocube-29-LED-Light-System-Extreme-SPS-8794102423.htm?categoryId=-1 have had my reef angel a little over a month on my biocube 29. I bought the tank used with a steves LED retrofit. I was using the dimmer knobs that come with it to manually do dusk/dawn. However just recently the front right(Looking at the tank with hood on) LEDs were flickering, upon investigation the dimmer knobs were corroded and when bypassed the lights work fine, but at 100% is way to much for the tank. I tried cutting the black/red pair to the dimmer and going to the reef angel port, but it only lights up at 100% with no dimming. This is the hood I am working with and the drivers as well.

The driver is the double 6.4

StevesLED is taking their sweet time to get back to me and I thought you guys might be able to help, any ideas?

Here are pictures of the hood, the red/white feeds the driver board directly from the power supply, then the other 2 pin red/black went to the simmer knobs and the 4 pins go to the solder points on the LEDs.

Is your RA analog or PWM?

I think it is the other way around. You would need that if you had analog dimming.
Since you have PWM dimming, it should be a straight hook up.

So I should be coming off the pwm dimming on the RA to which wires? I tried the ones going to the dimmer knobs but the fixture just lights up to 100% with no dimming. Thank you for all the help too, I really appreciate it!

I did find a jumper to be removed, but still no dimming I hate having all this used and no manuals, I replaced the bad pot for now and will look more into this when I have a little more time next weekend.
