Controll X-10

Post by ewaldsreef »

I might get a hard time for this but oh well. I still run X-10s in my home for a few things. There are a few outlets I would like to control via my RA based on comands to my lights.
How difficult would it be to add an X-10 line interface to the RA?

It might be easier to get an x-10 relay sensor and trigger an x-10 event from that using the io module. If you have an x-10 controller or are running x-10 computer software then you could trigger macros from that

I am getting into a new project "openhab" to seperate my home automation stuff. Actually what you are saying with the I/O makes sense and is a good idea.

I went through a lot of x-10 playing before I finally decided on the reef angel...the kicker was x-10 wouldnt operate through a UPS...best decision anyway :)

Roberto is adding Zigbee, I believe, as a possibility for control in the future. I know plenty of home automation also uses Zigbee, so maybe in the near future there will be a convergence of being able to control stuff in the house and aquarium.

The RANet modules run on the XBee modules.
