Temp probe corrosion? GFO?

Post by cosmith71 »

So yesterday I noticed quite a bit of corrosion on the tip of my temp probe. Could the temp probe be attracting GFO dust to the tip? It was the same reddish brown color. I scraped it off and the probe is and was working fine.

The temp probe is stainless steel and stainless will eventually rust in higher salinity water.
If what you saw on the probe was wiped off, it could have been gfo attracted to the probe, however, the more likely explanation is the probe was demonstrating surface rust.

I'm not sure. It was crusty and only at the tip. I'll keep an eye on it.
