How have folks mounting their RA hardware?

Post by AlanM »

I have a sheet of plywood that I used to have my Apex attached to since every bit of that hardware comes with mounting holes.

So far with the RA Plus, Bluetooth attachment, Wifi attachment nothing works. I tried double-stick industrial velcro (falls off) and gorilla tape and, strangely, reef epoxy with a screw through it. Everything falls off like it has its own extra gravity field pulling it inexorably toward the floor.

What has anyone else done to mount their RA hardware? I thought about unscrewing the head unit from the case, dremeling in a keyhole tab, and putting it back together so I could slip it over a screw...

I took it apart and drilled holes in the back plate. I then screwed that panel into a single narrow wood strip. I reattached the case and attached the strip to a wood panel.

On my old RA I bought some magnets that came with a metal holder with a hole through the center. I drilled holes in the back cover of the RA and used flat head machine screws with nuts to hold the magnets to the cover. I had a metal plate that I screwed to the stand so I could remove the RA easily whenever I needed to. Here is a link to basically what I bought.

Forgot to mention that I also used flat head wood screws for the metal plate so they wouldn't interfere with the magnets on the RA.

I'm using heavy duty velcro.
With the head unit the part that was attached to the plywood cabinet kept coming off so I stapled that to the plywood.
Now everything is fine.
I haven't had issues with the WiFi and Bluetooth modules. They stay up fine with just the velcro.

Ditto on the Velcro. Staples where needed to reinforce the bond to the stand.

Bizarre. The velcro just peels off the back of my head unit but sticks to the wood.

I use Velcro for every single part of my RA setup, even the relay box.

That is strange. Normally it's the opposite.

Maybe try cleaning the back of the head unit with acetone or rubbing alcohol before applying the Velcro.
