so I connected another router to my Verizon router. I gave it an IP address of 192.168.1.2. I have it plugged into a network port and NOT the Wan port. I can access the admin page (192.168.1.2) from any PC on my network. I disabled DHCP. I have the SSID a different name than my Actiontec router.
I can easily connect to the new wifi network. it is using Mixed WPA1 & WPA2 with AES and TKIP encryption. Green flashy light!!!!!
40 seconds later... WHAM, back to blue and green lights. WTF!
disconnect the cable and plug it back in, and right back connected. then terminates a little while later.
Have to reset WIFI every Night
Re: Have to reset WIFI every Night
So, here is another thing I'd like to know.
Disconnect this router from your verizon router.
Enable DHCP.
Change encryption to WPA2 with AES encryption instead of mixed.
You should have two separate wifi networks now. One with verizon and one with the new router.
Both independent of each other.
Connect wifi attachment to new router.
Does it loose connection too?

Well, before I do that, I finally got it to stay connected. I changed the encryption from AES and TKIP to just AES. For not, it is stable. Fingers (and toes) crossed!

Been up and running issue free since I added the additional router. Looks like the verizon router was the culprit after all.
Case closed.

Case reopened? LOL it dropped offline last night again. Where do I turn now?
Re: Have to reset WIFI every Night
I think the answer is not telling us it's working lol Maybe now that you've got the encryption good and the router is ruled out, to try the firmware update again?
