How fast can RA cycle dosing pumps

I got a couple liter meter pumps but didn't realize they moved such a quantity of fluid. So how fast can I safely cycle outlets? Can I run them for one second, less? Or can I run for fractions of a second, say I want to increase a couple ml, on a pump that runs at 3.33 ml/sec and I'm dosing 5 or more times per day can I increase say from 3 seconds to 3.1. I'd really like to spread out more than that through the day but until I know how reliabably I can switch speeds on the outlets I'm gonna keep it around 4 seconds
