Strange Stray Voltage

Post by soyrex »

Hey all!

I have a *weird* stray voltage issue...

I have been getting shocks from the water in both my display and sump for the past few weeks... so i've been trying to figure out what could possibly be causing it...

I've tried unplugging each piece of in tank hardware and can't seem to isolate the problem equipment. Ive temporarily removed all my probes etc.

The strange part is:
With all temp, Ph and float switches unplugged from my RA I still fee a slight voltage escaping if i touch the rim of the PH plug on my RA (when the Float switches, ph and temp probes are completely unplugged from the RA, there is no voltage in the water... but i can still shock myself if i touch the metal PH socket on the actual RA unit... as if the RA is leaking electricity...

It could be one of your pumps and the head unit is just completing the circuit.
