Relay PWM? Version 8.0

Post by n1ng »

Hi Everyone,

I just bought a used RA. I want to try to dim my kessil 160we. I cracked open the relay looking for jumpers but didn't find any. The board is labeled version 8.0 is it PWM? And 0-12v? I'm guessing that I need analog?

Is there a way to diy could convert to analog?

Thanks!

Can you post a photo of the inside?

You will have to populate R1/C1 and R2/C2 with 10K/10u components.

Thanks Roberto. Is this the low pass filter (capacitor and resistor)? I'm guessing I can make the circuit and connect it to the leads outside the relay box?

Also there seem to be two pads on R1/C1 and R2/C2 which ones would I use? I highlighted my guesses :?

Sorry for all the questions, I have no background in electrical circuitry.

Correct. It's the filter and you do need to have them before the amplifier.
If you do the way you mentioned outside the relay box, it won't work.
Not sure what you are asking about the pads.
Each resistor has 2 terminals and each capacitor have two terminals.
You just need to solder them on the locations shown in the board.

Ahhh I think I get it. So R1, R2, C1, C2 all have two pads. So I just need to solder the resistor terminals to the pads.

So for example the capacitor for C2 would be soldered to C2 and "+" correct?

And since you mentioned an amplifier I'm guessing I have the 12v required to dim the kessil?

R1/C1/R2/C2 are the reference label of the component. The + is polarity of the capacitor should you want to use polarized capacitor.

All done! Just like Roberto said. Solder on the caps and resistors. Made an adapter for the relay to connect to the Kessil cable and voila! Dimming leds!

Thanks for all the help!
