Has anyone figured out a way to say simple commands to the RA via Echo? I would like to get some simple commands working. Mainly, feed mode. Maybe using the web command, /mw?

Thanks

I don't have one, but Google search leads to creating an Alexa skill, which requires you to sign up for a dev account.
After signing up and creating the skill, you should be able to send commands to RA

That would be sweet. Would make life so much easier. I could ask my wife to feed the fish now :)

Seedlessone - are you working on this? I was going to pick this up as a side project but ran across this thread.

Don’t know if this helps, but it came across my YouTube feed:

It shows the setup process for an Alexa skill and RPi out the serial port.

The only command that hasn't worked yet, is "Alexa what is the temperature of ____". I've change the probe name a few times to make sure the echo could understand me. Its named "fish tank"now and she has no clue what I'm asking. LOL

Hmmm. Just changed probe 1 name to display tank.

"Alexa, what is the temperature of display tank?"

"Sorry, I didn't find display tank"

Did you change it on the portal or the Alexa app?
When I changed names, I changed them in the portal then I went to Alexa app and deleted the old name device. Discovered devices again to find the one you deleted. It will come with the new name.
I didn't test if there was an easier way.

Good to go now. Didnt even think about pulling the new device name into alexa app....duh!

I know you can change names on the Alexa app, and theoretically it should work without having to rename in the portal, but I didn't test.

Is there a list of the commands anywhere?

The only thing I have programmed right now is:
Turn on ...
Turn off ...
Set ... to auto
What is the temperature of ...

I know this is an Alexa thread but is there any chance of the RA working with Google Assistant?

I would need to look into how google handles everything.
Don't hold your breath though. It may take a while.

Certainly not trying to rush, but what sort of timeline do you have on feeding and water change mode?

So far it has been 100%!!

Feeding mode would be most useful!

Can you test feeding and water change mode?
You will need to discover devices again to enable the two modes.

I wasn't able to replicate.
I tried it on a new phone with a new amazon account.

I just tried this myself and ran into an error trying to login.

I confirmed my username and password were correct by logging into the forum to double check. Same error comes up using Alexa app, Safari and Firefox. This is on ios12, not that I think that’s the issue.

Just tried again hoping this would clear itself.... no dice. Still the same issue.

I just tested the amazon/reef angel skill linking and it went through just fine.
Try resetting the forum password and try again.

That did the trick! Got the skill installed, but I'm getting device is unresponsive. I have the Wifi adapter, not the cloud adapter. Is that a problem?

It also only discovered my second relay box, not the first.

It actually only works with RA*.
I never tested with the cloud wifi attachment. It should work, but definitely not with the regular wifi attachment.
