No data anywhere :(

Post by lnevo »

So, I got my pH probe calibrated yesterday and when I go to the portal I used to see a pH graph, now I see nothing. It never showed my temp graph either for the record. I also noticed I get "No Data" under relay activity. Same thing from the iPhone app, I always get No data available. What am I missing to get some history?

Thanks

Do you have this in your code?

Code: Select all

ReefAngel.Portal("lnevo");
I see that the last time your controller sent data was 9 days ago.

That's because you are getting data straight from the controller on live mode.
I'd like you to try something. This is already changed on my dev branch of the libraries and will be included in the next release.
I have noticed some timeouts using the script on the server page and I changed it to use a different script.
Open the file RA_Wifi.h located at "Documents\Arduino\libraries\RA_Wifi".
Replace this line:

Code: Select all

const prog_char BannerGET[] PROGMEM = "GET /status/submitp.asp?t1=";
With this:

Code: Select all

const prog_char BannerGET[] PROGMEM = "GET /status/submitp.aspx?t1=";
I'm curious to know if this is the cause.
To find out when the last time the server received data, use this: http://forum.reefangel.com/status/params.aspx?id=lnevo
The logdate is in GMT+0

still no good. I've changed the header file to point to status.aspx and still no updates to the page... I also tested submitting a parameter manually http://forum.reefangel.com/status/submitp.aspx?t1=788 which responds done, but I get no update on the status/params.aspx?id=lnevo page. I also moved ReefAngel.portal() to the top of my loop() to see if something in my code was causing it.

Sorry, tagging along as I have similar problem to be able to post data onto portal via ReefAngel.portal().

How do you manually test the code?

To send it manually, you have to send your id along with it.

Which wifi utility did you use?
Did you use the Java app that came with RA installer or the windows app that Dave created?

Roberto maybe thats the problem...when i added id=lnevo i was getting an Internal Server Error with a bunch of sql complaints...

I configured through Serial. I was having issues with the wifi utility on the mac...no windows ever popped up.

Ahh.
the wifi app will only launch if you copy to your computer.
It won't launch if it is still inside the disk image.
But I just looked at the manual and indeed, there are missing commands :(
I'll revise it.
You need this:

Code: Select all

set dns name www.reefangel.com
set i h 198.171.134.6
set c s 1420

Nope, still no good. I also hooked it back up to serial and used the java app. It config'd it great and I'm back on network. One thing I noted after the commands you gave me it was defaulting to HOST=198.171.134.6:2000 after I used the java app it's now at HOST=198.171.134.6:80

I can give you a dump of any configs if you let me know which you need, but still the only way to get it updating so far has been manually through the URL... :(

host port 80 is correct. host port 2000 is incorrect.
your localport is 2000.
The reefangel.com server is listening on port 80, so this is the right one: 198.171.134.6:80

ok, everything looks good.
So, let's check the controller.
Disconnect the wifi attachment and plug the USB-TTL cable.
Open Arduino and go to menu Tools->Serial Monitor.
Make sure that you have 57600 baud rate.
Leave it open for 10 minutes.
Copy and paste what you get in the window.

If there is no output, the Portal() funcion is not being called.
Can I see the code?

Ahhh...
Timer 4 is the Portal timer :(
You can't use it. Change it to Timer 1 or Timer 2 and you should be good .

Roberto,

The portal is now showing my IP instead of my dynamic name. What do I need to change to make it stay with the name?

Thanks,

Don't worry about dyndns.
The ip address on the portal will change automatically everytime your ISP gives you a different one.
The portal stores the ip address every time you send data to it.
So, we have a kind of dyndns service going on :)
