so im trying to configure my wifi attachment. i spent allot of time messaging with rimai who has been a big help but i figured i post to see if anybody else has some input. i dont wanna bother rimai too much.
im having a issue with my port forwarding. i feel ive tryed everything ive used the simple port forwarding program. messed around with my internal and external ip address. after all of that i had it working then all the sudden boom it stopped working no matter what i do i cant get it to connect. the portal gives me a unreachable address error and the app gives me error 15 bad url.
i feel in my router (verizon Actiontec mi424-wr rev e) is screwed up some how does anybody have any idea how i can get it working?

You might also consider setting up a Dynamic DNS as well..That way your router updates the Dynamic DNS with your external ip address all the time..

I will check the manual for your router and let you know how to do it...
Have you checked to make sure port 2000 is still open? and you have port 2000 forwarded to the ip address of the reefangel wifi module?

Starting on page 141 of the manual it explains the 8.3a Dynamic DNS. It doesnt tell me what services your router will work with.. Basically you need to sign up for something like no-ip.com or whichever one works with your router.

it link u sent me states that my ports are closed but my router says there open. do i need to open my the port on my external ip as well

Nope.. Might check that you have the protocol right.. Can you post a picture of your port forwarding rule you setup?
To set up advanced port forwarding (custom ports):
1. Click the arrow next to “Application to forward…” and select Custom Ports

i figured out that no-ip wil work for my router. but they want me to pay. im hoping theres a fix with out me having to pay anymore. plus i dont understand how this hole dns this works

Does the ReefAngel still have the ip of 192.168.1.3? Have you unplugged the wifi module? What color are the lights on the wifi module?
You only need the no-ip stuff if you want to access your reefangel from a the wifi module using an app on the iphone or android.. When your internet provider gives you a different external ip then your router updates it to no-ip and you can always get to your reef angel no matter what your ip address is? You just type the link in like example.no-ip.com and it would route it to your ReefAngel..

i get a slow blinking green light thats it no blue led.

No problem I'm not much help really.. Lol.. I still think it has to do with port forwarding..
What happens if you put the address of 192.168.1.3:2000 in your standard webbrowser?

On the screen shot you posted of your router settings make the second to last line 192.168.1.3 look like 192.168.13:2000. I would save it and reboot the router. Then check and see if the port is open.

ok so i saved it and rebooted the router with no luck. port 2000 still closed

there has to be somthing in my router blocking my ports from opening. nothing opens any ports could this be somthing with my firewall?

Do you have a firewall? I also searched a bit last night before I fell asleep. It looks like a lot of people have trouble with port forwarding on that router. Where it shows in the settings that its forwarded but doesn't actually work.

when u say firewall do u mean the router right? if so yes it has a firewall but i have it set to the lowest setting to except all incoming and outgoing.
im still thinking it has to be this router not actually opening the ports even tho they have all been forwarded. since it a verizon router i cant just use another router. or can i? im going to call verizon and see if they can switch out my router i hope they will. because this sucks . i need to get these ports open somehow

I will read some more when I get home from work. Several of the posts I read online people have called verizon and verizon said to call actiontec, then they called actiontec and they said to call Verizon. Lol.

i tried to update the firmware of the router and it told me everything was up to date.

Do you have Verizon Fios? Maybe they can help at this forum. If not I would call Verizon as a shot in the dark.

Yes I do have Verizon fios. I briefly look at the links you posted and I will post on the forums after work. I think I'll also give fios a call to see what they say about the switching out the router. I been down this road before in that past during my pc gaming years. but never had a issue like this. This router is really killing me.

When I get home I'm gonna try to do a hard reset of the router and start fresh. While I spend a hour on hold with Verizon. How about the dynamic dsn do you think this would also help. if I have to pay for the service I will. I just really need to get this thing working.

Nope we can mess with the dynamic dns after we get port forwarding fixed first. No-ip wont charge. I have a free account setup with them.

I also recall a problem with that router.
I think the issue was single ports....
Have you tried setting up as a range??? Except, start at 2000 and end at 2000. It's the same as single, but the router thinks otherwise... lol

My friend has one of those. Real pain. Do range forwarding. I think that's going to solve your issues.

OK I will try this when I get home today. Can one of u guys explain a little more what range forwarding is and how I get this done.
