Webcam and Portal

Post by Gugs Jr »

So I have an image on the portal when I use my webcam. I just can't get the live stream to work.

http://URL:Port/snapshot.cgi?user=username&pwd=password does give me a snap shot

http://URL:Port/videostream.cgi?user=username&pwd=password asks me if I want to download or open my live stream

What can I do to get it to just stream into the portal?

Do you get a stream outside of the portal?

I have an older D-Link camera that gives me the option of Java or ActiveX.
I can only get to work using Java, and only in a browser, but when I try to use it in the portal it won't work.

So I think it has to do with my IE settings. I was at my friends house since I'll be reef sitting his aquarium while he's on vacation.

Went to show him my RA portal and it worked on his computer he uses Firefox. Streaming and everything

Ok I just confirmed that it was internet explorer. Installed firefox on my laptop and desktop and it worked fine.

Going to play around with IE to see what's stopping it from streaming and just wanting to download it

IE has a lot of stupid security settings that are probably preventing the activex control or the java applet from working. Try changing the security level.

Yeah, what he said.

I can't view my webcam at work, because my IT department won't let me set the security levels of Java to the point that I need to have the web cam work.

It's like they expect me to be doing work while I'm in the office, Jeez.
