ORP and Salinity Calibration Solutions

Post by SuperDodge »

Where did everybody get 'em?

The only 470mV solution I can find is the Hanna stuff and Amazon says it usually ships in 1 to 3 months.

What about the 35ppt stuff?

Yes, hanna solution is the one.
You can use your own tank water for 35ppt, assuming that you have it calibrated with a refractometer.

If it helps anybody, I bought the Digital Aquatics 35 ppt stuff from Marine Depot and they shipped it within an hour.

Roberto, is the need for 470mV solution set by the hardware or by the software that drives the calibration procedure?

Both.
I've seen some variances with same hardware and different probes and same probe with different hardware.
But, you can use a trimpot too if you are handy :)
Wanna try?
Just use the trimpot as voltage divider and get it to output 470mV and apply to the BNC connector. It should give you good results. You would only be calibrating the hardware though.
The probe variance is much smaller than the hardware, so you should be ok with just calibrating the hardware.

Ha I didn't think about that at all! My salinity module is on its way hmmm.

Would this do it ? :

My only concern is that their 3-6 days shipping estimate mostly means Not in stock hmmmm

edit: looking at local stores online I mostly see cal fluid @ 53 vs 470. Just noticed the link I posed was for a 447 solution.

and I also saw this:

For what it's worth, this link used to say ships in 1 to 3 months. I ordered it on Thursday and it arrived on Saturday with the regular shipping option.
