Expansion Hub...Blank Screen

Post by SuperDodge »

When I try to boot my RA+ with the expansion hub connected it stops at a blank white screen. If I disconnect the hub and attach any single expansion device, it boots correctly. Is there some really simple step that I've missed?

Does the green power led on the side light up when you connect it to the relay box?

I'm not sure which green light you're talking about. The green LED on the hub lights up, but that lights up any time the expansion hub power source is connected, regardless of any USB connections.

Did it just start doing that?

This is the first time I've tried to use it. I just had the RF Expansion Module connected directly to the Outlet Box before.

Oh, it may be that it is not working right then.
I did have problems with that design of hub with the external power supply.
Some were just not working. I even changed it and the new design doesn't need power supply.
Let me send you a replacement.

Roberto,

Things just got weirder. When I first received the new expansion hub, I hooked it up for a quick test and the RA+ booted correctly with the hub and everything plugged in. I came from work today to a blank screen on the RA+.

I am now having the same problem as before. Plug in the hub and the RA+ reboots and sticks at a blank white screen. Unplug the hub and the RA+ boots to the correct screen.

Any ideas on what I need to do for troubleshooting?

Also, I tried loading some of the example codes to see if it was perhaps something in my pde file, and it appears that the problem persists regardless of software. Is there some memory value that could be causing the problem?

Things I've tried:

1. I swapped my two relay boxes to see if it was related to one of them and I still get the same results.

2. The green LED on the hub does come on when the USB cable is connected.

3. I tried extra VGA cables I had laying around the house with the same result.

4. If I click the joystick while the screen is white and then unplug the hub, the menu shows up instead of the main screen, so something is working even though nothing is being displayed.

5. Plugging any single device into the relay box works fine.

6. I've tried 4 different USB cables with the same result.

7. I tried the "Controller Test" code with the same results.

Does it do the same white screen with nothing connected to the hub?

Yes. It does the white screen anytime the hub is connected, regardless of whether or not anything is plugged into the hub.
