New RF issue

Post by BigDCowboys22 »

I had the RF module up and running with my code and wasn't having any problems. Today I went to change some of my Radion code and have since started having issues. I wanted to upgrade the firmware on the RF module to include the storm mode form this thread: http://forum.reefangel.com/viewtopic.ph ... ode#p13002. Everything seemed to work properly.

The problem is now my vortech will not go into slave mode. I load the vortechsetup code, the rf module flashes green/blue, but when I try to put the vortech into slave mode it flashes blue/yellow once and then the 3rd led lights and it flashes blue/red indefinitely. The vortech wont respond to button presses and has to be unplugged to respond.

I tried uploading the original firmware also from that post, also to no avail. I also tried rolling back to the 1.01 libraries that I originally used to setup the RF module. I'm at a complete loss. Any ideas? The vortech and the RF module are within a foot of each other, so I know they aren't too far apart.

Did you clear the memory of the vortech driver prior to trying to sync it?

The color on the RF module follows as expected. It will continue to flash green/blue when trying to assign slave mode, will stay green if I click the joystick as if the slave mode had been successful, and when I run my normal code will display the correct color for the corresponding mode.

So, it seems that the controller is communicating just fine with the module, but the module doesn't talk to your equipment.
Did you try unplugging the module and plugging it back in?

Yes. I've tried re-flashing the module as well.

Is the LED driven by the reefangel rf board or the ecotech rf module that attaches to it? Could it be that somehow the ecotech board is not functioning properly?

Well, it seems the module is responding correctly as far as the controller is concerned, but the ecotech equipment is not seeing the module for some reason.
You removed the ecotech RF module when you were updating it, correct?
Can you make sure the RF module is plugged back in correctly?

Yes I removed the ecotech module while updating, and I've ensured it was connected correctly after trying to update the module again.

Well, I think you will need to send it back for inspection then.
PM me to get an RMA number.
