Multi temp probes
Multi temp probes
I had one temp probe on my tank and had it keeping my temp at 77.1-77.9 I recently added two more probes, one for room, and one for ATO temp. Since adding the two additional probes my tanks temp has been 78.4-79. When I look at the portal settings and wizard settings the heater settings is set to 77.1-77.5. Any ideas why the it's staying warmer then it's suppose too?
Re: Multi temp probes
Yes,
Each temp probe has a digital serial number. This number determines which port is which. Not the order you plug them in. Not the port you plug them into. So what I believe happened is that the T1 probe which is used to run the heater is monitoring something else now and not your tank. More than likely it is the room temp which is showing in your signature first and at 74.3 degrees right now and pushing your Display Temp higher.

Re: Multi temp probes
That is a very frustrating aspect of the temp probes. It got me a bit back and I've seen it bag others as well.
Re: Multi temp probes
Ok so how would you fix it? It's not going to the point of over temp but it is running warmer then it's set at.
Re: Multi temp probes
You can move the probes so that T1 is in the tank again
Or you can write a custom function to use T3 for your heater.
Easiest and my recommendation is to shuffle the probes.

Re: Multi temp probes
I will have to look at my code again but I believe it switched to t3 and I switched the code as well, unless I did it wrong.
Re: Multi temp probes
The code only lets you change the overheat probe. As i said the assignments are through the serial number on the probe itself.
Re: Multi temp probes
StandardHeater() only uses T1 you'd need a replacement for that function. Do a search for StandardHeater2 that might turn out some previous solutions.
Re: Multi temp probes
I had original probe plugged into the port closest to the PH connection and that's what it was reading from. Then I hooked the two additional probes up and it started reading off the farthest plug in port. So I switched the tank probe to that port. Wouldn't that fix it?
Re: Multi temp probes
Nope you have to move the actual probes around not the ports
Re: Multi temp probes
The one measuring room air right now needs to go in display tank. The rest dont matter
Re: Multi temp probes
The problem with that is the room temp probe is too short to reach in the tank. I ordered the short cable for that.
Re: Multi temp probes
I did get it to reach the sump, barley. See if that does it.
Re: Multi temp probes
Heres how to set the heater to use probe 2...you can modify it to use probe 3 if you like and put the probes back where you had them...
