PWM fried
PWM fried
Hi,
I have been trying to get the PWM expansion module to work for my led lighting setup for some time now and I can't seem to get one to work. I have purchased 2 by this point, the first one had a burn spot on the board.
Let me give you a little background on my setup:
I have a 250 watt 48v power supply from ledgroupbuy
250w 48v 5.2a dc power supply
I have 2 meanwell ldd-500hw led drivers from ledgroupbuy
I have 4 meanwell ldd - 1000hw led drivers from ledgroupbuy
There are 72 leds total in 5 different color arrays hooked up to the different drivers. I used the white wires (which are marked dimming) on the drivers to hook up to the PWM. The first PWM worked for about 4 days then started smoking (which also killed the drivers). I repurchased the drivers, the power supply and the PWM (figuring something in the wiring was bad, I had bought the light array and power supply used). I rewired everything and the lighting works fine with no dimmer hooked up (its been running non-dimming for 3 weeks now), but dimmer when hooked up does nothing. I can add pictures if need be, I just would like to get the dimming feature working properly. I had no problem with the 2nd PWM module burning out, it just did nothing fresh out of the box. Let me know if I can send things back to see if there was a problem in the PWM, or what my readings should be from a voltmeter on the different channels.

Re: PWM fried
I believe the LDD drivers are analog not PWM dimming... I could be wrong it's been a while since I looked at them. If they are PWM then they are 0-5V I believe. I know there's some differences.. you can't just use the LDD with a stock PWM dimming.
Re: PWM fried
I think you got one of the newer models already.
Can you open and check if your module has jumpers to select the signal type?

Re: PWM fried
Ok, so you will need to place jumpers in each channel to convert the signal to 0-5vdc

Re: PWM fried
Yes, place jumpers on the 0-5V on the channels you are using for LDD drivers.
Roberto.
Re: PWM fried
Ok, I will bring it in to work tomorrow and give it a try. Thank you.
Re: PWM fried
Alright,
I put my jumpers on, hooked it up and tried each channel with a voltmeter. Nothing. Not even a wiggle on the meter. I checked the input voltage on the power plug and read 12v. The little green led light on the dimmer is lit, but it is not putting out anything when hooked up to the reef angel. The previous dimming expansion module I had did put out voltage before I lost it. I haven't been able to get anything out of this one since it came out of the box. Any ideas? Is there anything else on it I could test? Could I send it to you Roberto and have you take a look at it? Please let me know.

Re: PWM fried
Does it output voltages without the jumpers?
Are you using latest libraries?
PM me if you want to send it back.
