WIFI strange behavior....

Post by gabe81 »

Hi to all!

Today i received my RA+ (in 7 days from SF to Italy ... very satisfied  ). I installed under the tank and put it to work immediately ... all works very fine but i have a strange problem with wifi module ... i setup the module with wifi utility, everything workend and the router set the IP 192.168.2.240 to the wifi module, if i make a scan of the network i see the RA but i can't connect with the browser at 192.168.2.240:2000 address ... the green led blink slow and i can see the upgrades to the Portal page of the forum!! Even the iphone app to work if I enter the IP address in the setup!

RA seems to be invisible in the network, but communicates with the forum! Possible?

Thank's a lot for helping!

PS: so sorry for my bad English ... I hope you can understand

If you are using internet explorer, you must type http:// in front of it.
Try clicking here:
http://192.168.2.240:2000

I was able to communicate with the module WIFI "downgrading" the WIFI_utility to version 1.0.9. I reconfigured the WIFI, continues to work perfectly on the portal page but does not work the internal network.

Try from a different device. Also check the firewall settings on your workstation. If the phone apps work then you should be good to go. Its also possible that your IP on the reefangel is not what you think and the router may have reassigned it.

If you are using your phone, make sure your phone is connected to your wifi network and not on 3G.

Does it let you turn ports on / off from the Portal?

If you use the address that shows in the portal on your phone does it work?

WIFI strange behavior....

So that means your ra is on the network sending data outgoing. Thats good but it confirms that your port forwarding is not setup properly and i believe its because your ra address has changed ip. You need to configure a dhcp reservation in your router for it or configure the wifi module with a static ip

I reserved a static IP related to the MAC address out of the DHCP range. New address of the RA is 192.168.2.95. I connect WIFI module to WIFI_UTILITY and I have verified that the new address is 192.168.2.95:2000.

But the situation remain the same ... i can't connect to internal web server and iphone app don't work.

I'm starting to think that your cable may be bad.
Can you take photos of both ends?
Do you have a multimeter to check for continuity?
When you connect to http://192.168.2.95:2000, does the wifi attachment blink the orange leds?
Orange represents data being transfered.

Disconnect both ends and check if the cable is not broken in the middle by checking continuity on both ends

I try continuity on both cable, it's all ok. Every color on one side correspond exactly on the color on the other. This is the photo of the cable:

It is not your cable then.
The only thing I can think of is the router, but it shouldn't be blocking traffic by default.

it may depend on some parameters in the access point configuration?

My settings are:

Country code: IT
Radio mode: 2,4 ghz 802.11.n/g/b mixed
Radio band: auto
Primary channel: auto
Secondary channel: auto

Security: WPA2 - AUTO - PSK
Cipher type: AES
Group key update: By Timeout
Interval (sec): 86400

In the list of the connected device i see the RA wifi module:

n MAC AID SIGNAL SPEED TIMEOUT
2. 00:06:66:21:E1:2C Authenticated Associated 2 39% 24 Mbps 300s

I don't think so.
Can you ping the wifi attachment?
When you try to connect with browser, does the orange LED in the wifi attachment blink?

To be able to connect outside your wifi network, you will need to setup port forwarding in your router.
