Multi Channel Water Level - Max Pipe's Height

Post by rrodriguess »

Hi there

I just bought the Multi Channel Water Level. As my sump is too deep, I won't use the pipes that comes with the expansion. Question: Is there a max height of the pipe?

Best regards

It's a lot...
You will be fine with any standard sump.

What'd the diameter?
People have had poor results with less than 1/2" pipe.

Roberto

Its a 1/2" pipe with aprox. 2 feet hight (60 cm)
The vinyl pipe is about 6.5 feet long (2 mts)

I am too thinking about getting this and getting rid of my ATO float switches since they are unreliable. Are these very similar to an air switch that you can get at home depot? Are they more reliable than float switches?

What is the minimum length of the 1/2" pvc tube with pvc adapter?
Does the multi Water level module come with 4 pvc adapters?

I am seeing so many uses for this. Monitor my sump level, skimmate container, ATO resevoir and warn me when its low. Anything else I can use it for?

This is not a air switch. Air switch works just like the float switch. It only detects on/off. The water level module actually measures pressure difference and calculates the distance where the water is within the length of the pvc pipe in a scale of 0 to 100%, so you know exactly the level of the container you are measuring.
You can go as little as 1", but I can't see many applications for a 1" pipe.
Yes, the multi-channel comes with 4 pvc adapters.
I use mine to measure sump, ATO and overflow.

i see, so its not a simple on/off.

if i get mcwlm, can i program the RA to turn on/off a piece of equipment during a certain percentage?

how accurate and reliable is this? should i have multiple fail safes like an extra float switch?

thanks!

Yes, you can turn on/off at a certain percentage. I shut return pump off if it falls below 40%, so the pump won't keep cavitating in case of low water in return section.
I also have one in my overflow box, where I control the speed of my DC return pump based on feedback of the overflow level. :)
This way I get a bubble free drain , similar to a herbie, except it is just one pipe instead of 3.
I'm yet to see one of them fail.
