Multi Water Level Sensor reading is dropping.

Post by Sacohen »

I have a Multi Water Level Sensor Module and am currently only using port 1 on it.
I did the calibration to it using my ATO reservoir and the reading is dropping even though the ATO has not kicked in to add water to the sump.

The piece of PVC is about 21-22" and I replaced the tubing that come with it with the same dimension tubing but longer so I could make the run from under my tank to where the reservoir is.

The calibration was done using the length of PVC and tubing that is currently in place.

It was calibrated with the pipe raise up a little off the bottom of the reservoir and then after calibration the pipe was moved down to be sitting on the bottom of the reservoir so the level after calibration was reading 102% by the end of the day (about 4-5 hours later) the WL was reading 98% and I know the ATO had not taken any water out of the reservoir because I was watching TV right next to the tank and reservoir all afternoon.

This happened the first time I filled up the reservoir 2 weeks ago, but I thought it was because the couple was letting a slight amount of air in so I glue it in place yesterday before re-calibrating the sensor.

Could the longer tubing be causing a problem, it is 0.25 OD, 0.17 ID tubing that I got from HD?

Could the Kalwasser mixed in with the RO/DI water in the reservoir be causing a problem?

I wouldn't think so to either of those questions.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Maybe look up weather data and see if barometric pressure is changing? If I understand how the thing works, it will definitely be affected by the barometer.

Thanks for the suggestion and that may be true, but my single WL sensor is not having this issue.
If it was the barometric pressure is changing it would affect both modules.

It down to 88% now and there is now way it put that much water in the sump in 1 day.

Got home and looked at the ATO tank and it has only gone done 1-2%, not 13% as it is reading now.

Did you weld the pipe to the pvc adapter?

Are you talking about the orange piece on top?

Yes.
Is it possible to swap the one you are using with the single channel?

I was thinking of doing that.
I'll try it this weekend.

I put the tubing, PVC adapter and pipe that was on WL1 on the single and Visa-versa.
now the single is dropping.

It went from 100% to 94% today and the ATO has not run, so no water came out of the reservoir.

So the problem seems to be with either the tubing, the adapter or the pipe.
The coupling that the adapter is in was glued into place with PVC cement.
So it could be the tubing.
I don't remember if you answered, but will putting a longer piece of tubing cause any problems?
I wouldn't think so as long as it was calibrated with the length of tube.

I'm using a 10' piece of 1/4 in. OD x .170 in. ID Clear PVC Tubing.
What are the dimension of the tube you supply with the adapter?
The tube fits tight into the adapter and over the nipple on the sensor.

In this case, can you please use some silicone or more pvc cement over the existing seal of the orange piece and the 1/2 coupler and also on top of the pvc coupler and the pcv pipe?
Maybe there is a leak in there somewhere you can't see.
I doubt the problem is on the tubing or length of it.

I wouldn't think do either.
Ok. I'll try silicone.

That seems to have done it.
Sealed it with hot glue.
Recalibrated and it's been at 99% since about 6pm.

It's happening again.
The last time I filled the ATO resivour the ML senosr #1 worked fine.

When it got down to 1% I filled up the resivior and it's now reading 81% when visually it only looks like 95%.

No changes have been made to the setup.
