Wifi not working from RA.

Post by Sacohen »

I had this problem happen about 2 weeks ago for like 2-3 days and then would start working fine in the evening.
I would be out for the day and at night it would start working again, the same with the next day and so on.
It started happening again today although I don't know if it will start working in the evening or no because this is the 1st day I've not had connectivity since the end of March.

My RA will lose connectivity to my router and in turn the outside world.

At the time I tried a soft reboot of the head unit followed by a reboot of my router. Didn't work.
I tried a hard reboot of the head unit (unplugging the power) and that didn't work.

The internet to my home is working because I can access my desktop through Team Viewer.

I know the DNS server and port forwarding on my router is working because I can still access my webcam for the tank.

I can't access the head unit with the internal IP address either.

It seems as if only the RA head unit is not communicating.
Is this a sign that the WiFi module is going or what?

When you loose connection, does the wifi attachment blinks blue?

No it does not.
The only thing that blinks is the far left green light. It blinks steadily about every 2 seconds.

The 2. Green LED – TCP connection status.
Nothing else blinks.
When I saw blue lights blinking before that's how I knew the connection was back working.

I just hooked up my 2 new temp probes and restarted and it still was not working, but after I changed the labels in the portal the WiFi started working again.

We'll see what happens tomorrow.

That should have been the opposite.
When blue blinks, it should be no connection and when only green blinks, it means good connection.

I can't remember what it was 3 weeks ago, but now it seems to be working again.
The only thing that is blinking is the 2. Green LED – TCP connection status steadily every 2 seconds and 4. Yellow LED – TX/RX data transfer when I call for an update from the App as it should.

I don't see the 3. Blue LED – Wifi association status blinking at all.

Correct. That's the way it is supposed to be.

Thanks as I said it seems to be working fine now. I'll see if it stays connected tomorrow.

It's all been fine until today.
I lost connectivity with it at around 1pm.
Home internet and everything else worked, but I could not get anything from the RA.

It came back basically on it's own at 9pm today.

Really weird.

Did you ever get this figured out, Steve? I have almost the exact same symptoms as you with one exception. If I use Roberto's universal app I can connect to my RA (remote or local) and kind of "Jump Start" it to get it going again. Mine has been doing that for the last few months I just haven't had time to work with it to figure it out.

I have not.
I don't use the U-App because it does not have support for the server authentication. (unless it got updated)
It actually happened again yesterday.
My internet was working fine.
The only difference was that this time I could connect locally when at home with the Android app or if I tried to access the built in server by my IP address.

I just could not connect in away mode with the app or with the portal.

The problem resolved itself sometime during the night last night.

Did you recently make any hardware changes on your local network? DSL/Cable modem or router? I'm pretty sure my problem is either my router or my internet connection itself. I'm also having problems with other wireless devices losing connection off and on.
