Yes and confirmed to work with reef angel controllers

Any chance of a confirm or deny roberto?

I can't confirm yet because I don't have one of their new drivers, but I did talk to Coralvue and they stated they had it working with RA too.

Looks like the maxspect gyre control module is shipping now...

Has anyone set one up on a RA yet?

Just got the gyre a few days ago, when i get the money for the icecap I will be integrating it.

I can't wait until someone takes one apart.

It won't help to take it apart, unless you mean the icecap module?

In the coralvue video, it looks like it's connecting with a 0-10v port to the apex similar to what we connect our pH probes to the reef angel.
Do we need an expansion in order to control this or does anyone know if this can be connected to our dimming expansion by cutting off the plug and stripping the wires??

You can cut and splice the dimming port lead wire

Do you have to do this, or can you just plug it in to a dimming port, like they show in the apex video?

The plug on the cable that comes with the unit is different than the ones used on the dimming port.
You either cut and splice the dimming port lead wire or you get a CAT5 jack and connect the dimming port lead wires to it to create your own adapter.

They really catered to the apex crowd on this one didn't they?

Not really. It's pretty common to use an RJ-45 for connections. We're the ones with the terminal block for a connector...

So just to be clear, no one has figured out how to control a Gyre pump directly with ReefAngel, but it's possible with this IceCap box by sending 0-10V inputs, right? I got a Gyre at MACNA, but would likely not set it up unless I can talk to it with my RA.

Correct. You should be able to control with the icecap module and any analog dimming port on RA. PWM won't work.

OK, thanks. I'm actually controlling a couple Jebao's with a PWM port using your Jebao cables with built-in filters that integrate the PWM to 5V DC. I figured I'd do something like that and then increase it to 0-10V since I have a surplus of PWM ports on my 16Ch expansion, but no more analog ports.

Do you know of any place to buy an out of the box cat5 jack with +/- leads to connect to the dimming expansion?

Go to home depot or your any hardware store and get one of these:

Just to be clear, this part will serve as bridge between the icecap type connection and what we need for the reef angel? And where is an analogue dimming port on the RA+?

If the icecap has an RJ45 and assumes that you're using a Cat5 cable from an Apex VDM port, which has 2 channels of dimming, then you may have to look at the pinouts leading in to the icecap to see what you'll need to do to go from a reefangel terminal block. What Roberto posted would be nice for you to attach some wires to and connect those wires to the appropriate ports on the ReefAngel. Then you could use a Cat5 cable to connect between that and the icecap. Assuming I'm understanding how the icecap works correctly.

Yes the icecap module should have an rj-45 to be apex ready. Apex pinouts are 1+2 and 5+6

See this thread (
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showt ... ?t=2584508) on RC for ideas on how to directly connect a Gyre or Cross Flow pump with a simple 0-5V or 5V PWM interface which should work with the RA Jebao cable ... or so I would think.

That's awesome. I think I'll play around with that.

So I could use this on a Jebao DCS return pump?

It apparently doesn't work with the CP-40 gyre pump, and limits the max output on the return pumps.

I was hoping it would have. Would like to be able to control my pump

Does this also work with the latest generation of Gyre's like the XF250?
Looking at a couple different options so looking at the buy-in price. XF250 is already over 300 and adding the icecap is another 100 or so. I already have the cables for Jebao's and I don't recall what is needed for the MP series (40/60's) of powerheads if I go that route.
