WiFi adapter stopped working. I think???
WiFi adapter stopped working. I think???
I think my WifI module stopped working.
I changed from Bellsouth DSL to Comcast Xfinity about 2 weeks ago and lost connectivity to my WiFi.
I changed the settings on the Comcast router to duplicate the old settings on my old netgear router identically so that I wouldn't have to go around to all my devices that connect to the internet like my TV's, phones, the RA the PS3 and the WII's and change the setting in them.
Everything works perfectly with the old setting on them except the RA WiFi.
I must say that I was having problems with it before changing internet companies where my IP address would change but the RA would not update to the new IP address unless I rebooted it.
I reformatted my PC for other reasons and reinstalled the Reef Angel Controller software and still the communications port light was just blinking green every 2 seconds or so.
I tried connecting with the WiFi adapter Setup Utility and it would not see the module.
I set the serial port to com 3.
No connectivity to it and the communications light will just blink green every 2 seconds or so.
The Bluetooth connectivity thru the WiFi module still works fine though.
Connected to serial port COM3

** ERROR - Please disconnect and then reconnect the Reef Angel Wifi Attachment from the USB-TTL cable and try again.
Any suggestions or is it dead ?
Thank for the help.

Re: WiFi adapter stopped working. I think???
The connection from the WiFi module to the WiFi Setup utility worked last night.
I just decided to try it again and I can program the WiFi module through the utility, but when it tries to connect to my router that is where it gets stuck, so it seem to be something with my router configuration.
I have slight idea of what it may be so I'll try that tonight or over the weekend.

Re: WiFi adapter stopped working. I think???
I got the WiFi connected locally, but something is still not right.
If I leave the unit unused for a while, like overnight or while at work, the connection drops and I have to power cycle the head unit to get it working again.
The communications light ( the 1st light ) is always blinking.
Isn't it supposed to be solid green when connected to the network?

Blinks green all the time.
Blue blinking means it is not connected

Re: WiFi adapter stopped working. I think???
Slow blinking green all the time.
About every 2 seconds.
The manual says it should be solid green.

Re: WiFi adapter stopped working. I think???
Solid green is when the module is connected over TCP. I just checked the manual and it says that too.

Re: WiFi adapter stopped working. I think???
The module will also fast blink green when connected over serial and you enter command mode.

Re: WiFi adapter stopped working. I think???
So when I'm just sitting around the house trying to dim my lights it should be solid green right, because it is communicating over TCP.
Right?
Right?
Re: WiFi adapter stopped working. I think???
No, the connection only lasts a fraction of a second. There is no time for you to see a solid green.
Only if you connect using telnet and deactivate the idle timer should you see a solid green.

Ok. So it should be blinking?
Re: WiFi adapter stopped working. I think???
Cool. It stayed working last night and has been fine today.
Now I need to figure out why it's not working externally.
Portfowarding is setup and port 2000 is open.
I would ask you to check the DDNS to see if you can see traffic, but it doesn't even come through with the external IP address.
