I can't seem to figure out how to use Tera Term or putty to even connect to the WiFi unit.

I removed the WiFi unit from the RA head unit and plugged the Serial to TTL cable into and into my PC.

Then when it was asking for an address to connect to I gave it the IP address that has been assigned to it (10.0.0.11).
Is there some thing else I should be using to connect to it.

You must choose Serial connection.

Ok I connected with TeraTerm and typed $$$.
Got the CMD

If I hit "Enter: it returns <4.00>
If I try enter with the word anything (or any other word) it returns
ERR: ?-Cmd
<4.00>

That means you are in command mode.
All you need to do is type the command you want to send.
What are you trying to change?
You can make a mistake. It won't recognize backspace.
If you type anything wrong, you will have to type it again.

Do you think I need to update it?
What is the current firmware?
Could that be why I'm having problems keeping connectivity?
Do I need to download the current firmware from anywhere or will it do it automatically when I enter ftp u?

I think you should also look at the recent thread about fixing connection issues...

I'm still unclear what issues you are having. After our last review we were all set...is it still where it works on wifi and not elsewhere or the reverse?

It works on everything, when it works.
I lose connectivity about 2 times a week and I have to reboot the head unit to regain it.

Try this?

Have to reset WIFI every Night
This thread addresses this same issue. The fix there works for most, but not all people.
