DIY LED's dimming and drivers..
Hi folks:
I am building my LED's feature for my small frag tank and I was wondering if you can help me out
with my project please..
This is the board with 18 emitters (6 on one string, 12 on the other).
x 8 blue emitters with XT-E royal blue (550mW) x2, XT-E warm white x4, XT-E cool white x2 and also 2x Near-UV (410-420nm) emitters which can be run at up to 1000mA.
My questions:
What it's the best driver should I connect to it to use with RA?
Maybe this one?
http://www.rapidled.com/mean-well-eln-6 ... le-driver/
My idea is use two of those one, one per string...it comes with two connector for the dimmer so I will go to the
relay perhaps?
Thank you so much for you time.
Erick

Re: DIY LED's dimming and drivers..
I don't think that driver can handle the string with 12 leds.

Re: DIY LED's dimming and drivers..
The majority of rapid led drivers (dimmable) are a set price of $34. So get either the ELN 48 P or D
Re: DIY LED's dimming and drivers..
for the string of 6 this one?
http://www.rapidled.com/0-10v-dimmable- ... ntiometer/
And the string of 12:

Also what do I need to run then with reef angel?
I have two relays and I don't know how to connect
The drivers to the relays
Sorry for my ignorance..
Thanks for the quick reply and help.

Re: DIY LED's dimming and drivers..
That'll do BUT you'll have one PWM driver and one analog that way. The drivers can just use standard outlet constant power. The dimming leads are what make them dim. I have mine on standard home outlets to save room on my RA relays
Re: DIY LED's dimming and drivers..
Is your RA analog dimming signal?
Those 2 drivers you posted require analog signal.

I can't remember.. how do I check?rimai wrote:Is your RA analog dimming signal?

Thanks for your help!
Re: DIY LED's dimming and drivers..
Look underneath the relay box. If there is a sticker "Analog Dimming", it is analog... Otherwise it will be PWM.

I couldn't get underneath of the relay because is stack in the cabinet but I have try and this is what happenedrimai wrote:Look underneath the relay box. If there is a sticker "Analog Dimming", it is analog... Otherwise it will be PWM.
when I touch the led circuit:

I haven't try to conncet the power cord yet, too scary...only the two dimmer cables.
sorry my ignorance but should I connect the power cord?

Re: DIY LED's dimming and drivers..
So you went ahead and got the Analog drivers? It won't (shouldn't) damage your LEDs regardless...You might just notice them flashing, IE not working correctly if you mix signals.

Yes indeed. I was excited with the DIY and I forgot to check for itDrewPalmer04 wrote:So you went ahead and got the Analog drivers? It won't (shouldn't) damage your LEDs regardless...You might just notice them flashing, IE not working correctly if you mix signals.
few pics of the led running:
Also the heat sink is on it:
I was wondering if the expansion hub can give 5v for the dimmer or perhaps more
thanks again! really appreciated.
Re: DIY LED's dimming and drivers..
You could still you PWM signal on the analog drivers.
The response and dimming ramp will be different and not linear, but you can still use it.

Also if you use the RA to dim..you won't have to mess with that POT for dimming...just FYI

Re: DIY LED's dimming and drivers..
Who made your circuit board? Did it come with emitters or did you add them? It's sleek

I did try and it didn't turn onrimai wrote:You could still you PWM signal on the analog drivers.

I didn't try to connected it on the main relay.
So the dimmer it needs the electric wire I connected by usb in the usb expansion.
I didn't know I can charge my phone on the usb expansion as well
I will try again once I upload the new code...
I was wondering why every time I setup a new parameter I have to reset the controller to get
the relax expansion to work with it I don't know if it make sense, sorry for my broken English.
And here it is, running on 30% dimmed manually
Re: DIY LED's dimming and drivers..
It's design by a friend from mass forum and he sent the design to few places for build it and he got a really good deal for a few of them.DrewPalmer04 wrote:Who made your circuit board? Did it come with emitters or did you add them? It's sleek
Very very strong.
