SMS alerts via RA

Post by chachew »

Is there any instant notification feature to send SMS messages to my phone? Sort of like the email notification setup that we have in the Portal but for SMS..

Ive seen some other random posts on other sites with iPhone/SMS alerts..

Ok, sweet. Only thing is that is required to be running on a machine somewhere. Would be nice to have the alerts sent from the controller itself. Maybe have RA flag on a problem and then have the controller send a request to an SMS Gateway API for sending out alerts. Or i guess it could go the google route as well like the RA Client does..

I use my own wireless carrier gateway.
xxxxxx@messaging.sprint.com sends me an sms.
All carriers have their gateway you could use.
Wouldn't that work for you?

How do you initiate that post to email from arduino? I saw some WiFly HTTP POST articles that i was reading.

Ohh, LOL i see. That would work. But arent those emails sent from the Portal kind of throttled? Like so many per hour and every 5 minutes?

Ok, cool. I ran across that post last night and was going to try that out. Was just wondering if there were any other built in options currently. I was looking at twilio API services and stuff, which wasnt sure of there trial limitations. But i can go straight through my carrier so thats even better.

and connect it to the usb expansion with this:
