Any LUX/FC sensor incoming?

Post by dhave »

There is an idea for making a LUX/FC sensor that measure the real output of the light? It can be usefully to check Neon status and plan their change.

This could in essence effectively be done with a circuit that measures resistance and current. as the bulb ages resistance on the filament will increase along with the current going up from the ballast trying to compensate. The circuit could be made and monitored through a ato port under 5v. I think I remember seeing someone ask this before and roberto didnt have plans for a photodiode. But a circuit like this could be made relatively easily, however fine tuning it would be per fixture. In otherwords each person would have to tune the readings themselves and have a new bulb, and a bad bulb and get readings from both to create a the parameters of what a new bulbs current & resistance should be vs an old. Then over the course of using a new bulb for 6 months-year jot down the readings. with bulbs they normally stay good and then the last month or so before theyre spectrum goes out of whack it will all change rapidly. Just an Idea...
