Logitech IR or RF Interation

Post by alexwbush »

I have my reef tank in my living room with the TV. I use a Logitech Harmony Home remote/hub to control my entertainment system (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/h ... ol?crid=60). 1 button to turn on the TV, entertainment system, etc. I know the remote is capable of controlling a lot of items, but I don't know how possible it is to make it able to control the RA by IR or RF. I am not looking for constant control. I am interested in selecting a mode on my logitech remote and triggering a reaction on the RA until I turn off the TV/exit movie mode, then it goes back to as programmed.

I just programmed up a "Movie mode" on my RA with some dummy relays, so I know that part is possible. But can the RA get a signal from the Logitech system?

You could use this to trigger an IO port or float switch port

Network connected arduino could have an IR receiver and send the http post to a network enabled RA as well.

Interesting. I would be more interested if reviews weren't so horrible.

Also, I believe Harmony hub control the roku via wifi (though I think roku can receive RF or bluetooth).

Sorry i didn't check the reviews but a quick search on Infrared relay will yield a ton of different kinds. I think it would be your cheapest easiest method.

Just read the reviews (only 3) one complained about it using batteries (use a wall wart) the other was positive and the third said the distance wasn't good but more than likely i'd bet it was environmental. Plus you'd be using a stronger remote.
