Analog vs PWM dimming

Post by billkaza »

Hello
I'm Bill

I'm new to your forum. I want to order a RA but i dont know which version to choose for the dimming signal.

I already have 2 x 12v led tapes 1.5m each(8,4W/m) that i power them with a 30w ballast with 1-10v dimmer.
I think my dimmer is analog.I trim it using a small potentiometer.
So if i buy a RA should i choose the Analog signal (20$ more) or should i change my ballast for a PWM dimmer one?
Also which one do you propose to me ?I have heard about meanwells.

The analog version should work fine.

Similar question, but I have a LED from China branded by my LFS. They say to just use standard dimmers from Home Depot...does that mean I can use it with the analog dimming? There are no ports for any kind of pwm control.

Thanks

Are you sure they are dimmable?

I did test them with an x10 module and they did dim... I've asked a few of the guys there and they say they use them there...I have not seen this in person though, but the x10 module did dim them...

Maybe I'm not visualizing it.
How can they dim with just home depot timers? or X10 for that matter.

*shrug* I'm the wrong person to answer, but it does work...

Not sure if it's good long term...hoping someone else would know better.
