I Think I Killed My RA+

Post by fatman »

I did a water change yesterday an splashed on the top of the controller unit. :( I wiped it all down and everything was fine. A bit later I went to turn the lights on and noted that the control unit wouldn't turn on. I removed it, took the front off and had some salt water inside. I wiped it all down carefully with cotton swabs. It came alive, showed the menu but when you changed the menu with the joystick it would cycle through the menu list rapidly. I disconnected it again, took the front off and gently blew it out with scuba air (very dry) and at low pressure. I performed well, the joystick is not responsive in and requires a couple of pushes to move at some times, but the pH and temps won't work. I left it open (disconnected) on the work table to give it some air. Hopefully it'll turn on and run today (it's been about 12 hours now and I really miss having it. Surprising how much you depend on it.

The questions is if I order the PA+ board that is in the upgrade kit does that come with everything I need to make it operate?

Thanks!

A very sad Fatman

:(
RA+ upgrade is just the main board. If your LCD board is fine, it would work for you.

So, after a rest overnight I tried it and it's alive. pH wouldn't read, joystick was wacky and the temp was non-existent. Another shot of scuba air lightly to clean it out, removed some salt water residue on one of the circuits, reloaded everything and it's alive! Now I just have to figure out which plugs go in the correct ports!

Thanks Roberto!
