I still couldn't figure out the difference between this and what they already have.

Yeah, didn't seem to be much of a improvement over .22. Certainly not any significant bells and whistles, unless it's all under the hood.

Apparently they have finalized the api and a few other things. Not anything major like you said but still significant. It's been in alpha release and now beta should hopefully lead to better functionality.
