My Second LCD :)
So I setup my HP Touchpad to be my ReefAngel controller LCD. It was just being used as an expensive alarm clock so I think this is better use for it.
Pretty cool - if I tap the clock my ReefAngel application opens.

Re: My Second LCD :)
It's called "Aquarium Live Wallpaper" with "DIGI Clock Widget". If you touch the clock it starts up the Android Reef Angel app.
The fish in the wallpaper swim around.
Thanks to Smotz for the awesome idea!

Have you got the display permanently on or do you have to keep waking the laptop up?
Looks good though...

I turned the sleep mode off. I usually hit the power switch at night to put it to sleep. I generally leave it on all of the time when I'm around.

Re: My Second LCD :)
Thanks for that
This idea had never occurred to me but there are plenty of cheap new & used tablets around now so it makes it worthwhile.
As the RA status app is improved this can only get more useful.
Brilliant idea......thanks

Re: My Second LCD :)
Forgive me for the ignorance, but I haven't set up my RA+ yet let alone messed around with things like this.
The tablet get the info wirelessly from the IPad or Andriod App that has been created.
Is that using data minutes or does it get it directly from your wireless network inside the house?

It connects directly to the home WiFi. No cellular involved.

This is a brilliant idea. Now to find a cheap 5-7" tablet.
It will look 100 times better than my old Apex screen, and much better than hanging the RA controller box on the wall.

Make sure they have a capacitive touch screen. Android 4.0+, and a good display, too.bhazard wrote:Aliexpress has a few from China for like $40. Looking into those.Sacohen wrote:Yeah I like it too. There are links in the thread to some places where they are like $60.
Curt's app isn't all that demanding on hardware.

Most of the inexpensive $40 ones on AliExpress are Andriod 2.X.
There are some 4.0's for around $50.

Re: My Second LCD :)
And when having a nice looking screen on the cabinet can we still use an other one (my phone for example) without having some kind on conflicts between the 2 of them ?
