Webcam ?
With summer coming up we might go out of town for vacation and I know people have web cams set up on there tanks. Do the run them through a computer or is that something that can be run through reef angel? I would like to be able to check my tank make sure nothing is wrong without having some one stopping by everyday.

Re: Webcam ?
I have three cameras of varying prices, all IP cam's like Lee said and I agree with him. The little inexpensive dlink is my favorite.
The only problem I have had, and it's fixable, just haven't done it, is to give it a static ip address. I'll go out of town, Comcast (or my router) will decide to refresh (change) ip addresses, then I can't view it. Manage that and it'll work like a charm. Thx

Re: Webcam ?
Cool thanks for the info. How is the view quality of the dlink? Pretty clear or is it blurry

Re: Webcam ?
I got my web camera set up.
I need to re-position it closer to the tank, but I need to experiment with that.
The current IP address is 65.3.98.138:2010 User Name is Fish Tank.
I'm now trying to figure out how to get it to work with my noip.com name of sacohen.no-ip.biz

Re: Webcam ?
Because your no-ip resolves to a very different ip. Not sure how no-ip works. Maybe you need to configure the port forwarding there...

Re: Webcam ?
Strange because the host name works fine with the Andriod App.
It gets the info from there as well as let's me turn on or off ports

I picked up the dlink 930l got it set up through dlink. On the portal page under one of the tabs there's a place to put your webcam link. What is that for?

It's to put your IP address or Host name and the stream will show up in the portal.jjdezek wrote:I picked up the dlink 930l got it set up through dlink. On the portal page under one of the tabs there's a place to put your webcam link. What is that for?

Re: Webcam ?
Under the setup portion there is an area for a 2nd login (or something like that) just enter a username without a password and viewers just need to enter the username to view it no password.
