Relay Expansion Box has no power

Post by djtutt »

I connected my 1st relay expansion box by the manual. All codes were accepted and the 2nd set of 8 channels show up on the Reef Angle screen but no power is coming from the box itself. I set it for all 8 to be "always on" and all lights are green but still no power when I plug something into the box. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for help.

Please check the dip switches.
How old is your RA head unit?

Dip switches all off and Reef Angel unit was purchased March 12, 2012. Just received expansion on Friday.

Do you have 3 jumpers installed in the head unit?
You should, but just to confirm.
Also, check this thread and post the log of the I2CScanner code.

Ok, I'll change my dip switches on the expansion end and see what happens.

I tried different dip switch settings and the additional relay box still has no power.

I have swapped cables and boxes and they work but when I hook up the relay expansion, the green light is on but sockets on the box have no power. Here are my readings from the I2CScanner

Checked main unit and there was only one jumper. (All three jumpers must be installed in head unit in order for any expansions to be recognized)

do you have spare jumpers? Should be attached to the pins inside the head unit, just not installed on both pins. If no, radio shack has them for pennies.
