Will the reef angel head only accept a temperature probe from reef angel? I happened to have this at home:
5M Waterproof Digital Thermal Temperature Temp Sensor Probe DS18B20 Connector
i got it on ebay a while back.
But when i tried to plug it in any of the temp ports it auto shuts off the head and the head unit loses its time.

Re: temperature probe
from that post it says:
left-> GND
middle-> Data
right-> +5VDC
on my cable its the correct placement but i see its vcc instead of vdc. could this be the problem? is there anything i can do to use it?
Output lead: red (VCC), yellow(DATA) , black(GND)
Stainless steel shell: 6*40mm
Output : 3 wires
3.0V ~ 5.5V power supply
9-12 bits adjustable resolution
Need no external components, unique single-bus interface
Wire gauge: 24AWG
left-> GND
middle-> Data
right-> +5VDC

Re: temperature probe
It's same thing. I'm thinking you got the wrong polarity.
Try inverting the vcc and gnd wire leads.
