New PH Probe arrived Dry

Post by goisles1 »

Just unboxing my new RA+.. Ordered Friday.. Arrived today (long Island, NY). Was not expecting that.. :)

Anyway.. I notice that the PH probe has leaked and the end has no water in it at all. Plus, there is salt creep on the probe itself.

I assume it was shipped filled with Salt Water (hence the creep) and it must have leaked.

Will the probe still work? Is there anything I should do before trying it?

Thanks,
Rob

Should be fine.
Put in a cup with tank water or place in the tank/sump for 24hrs before you start getting any readings.

Pretty proud of myself..

RA+ installed.. running how I want it... :)

I did use the wizard though..

I also need to understand how the ATO works.. Previously I used a homemade ATO using a Relay and two floats. So if I lifted the lower float, the water flow would stop instantly. It seems the RA ATO works a bit differently.

I'm using the Aqualifter pump that really does not move much water. I quickly realized that a 60 second timeout would not work. I just upped it to 15 minutes.. If I manually raise the floats, the pump does not turn off. What triggers the pump to turn off, the float switch, or the timeout value?

Thanks,
Rob

Two switches when the bottom ones is active then the pump turns on until the top one is active or the timeout is reached. You may have them pointed in the wrong direction.

I have it set exactly like the picture in the Manual (page 26) first pic to the left.

I referred to page 5 of the manual for the wiring:

High one is upside down and is plugged into ATO port 2 on the RA (next to PH probe connector)
Low one is hanging normal below the high one and is plugged into ATO Port1 on the RA (2 away from PH probe connector)

Did you read the guide?

Which function did you pick in the wizard?
Roberto.
