Relay box fried

Post by cpace »

I have a reef angel relay box that had one outlet out. It was ok because I switched to just using 6, never got around to replacing the relay on my jbj nanocube. Wife called me to let me know the tank was silent, and she smelled smoke. Fortunately, it was just the box. Can the board inside be replaced? Is it any better than buying another? I'm not sure but I expect it is probably an older board showing I'd have to replace something in the head unit? Would that cost more than just going with another unit? It's just being used as a timer right now, just no time to program it.

I was considering putting it on my bigger tank. I run ai sols, the smaller kessils a150s on a simple timer function, tunze 6101s and I have a jebao wp40 on the way. My current unit has the Pwm. I also have the Pwm expansion module, initially planned on my own led build. Which should I order to get the most control if I have to replace the whole unit? Or more importantly, do i have to replace it. I would obviously rather just get the relay box or internal replacement. I'm fine with the ai sols on their own controller. I'd prefer some manipulation of the kessil, tunze and jebao but apparently those are functions requiring an analog and Pwm. Right now I have controllers for everything except the kessils. As I'd hate to fry those, should I just be content with on/off? A fried reef angel has me a little paranoid. I love my little angel and miss it already. Had to crack out the reef keeper in the fish box! Any help would be appreciated.

Also, the second tank is not plumbed together but very close, could I use the same head unit for it with an extra relay box? Is that possible or do I just have to get another unit?

Jbj nanocube with fixed lighting of on and off only, mp10 with it's own controller, too. Really would just effectively need to be a timed outlet. I just hate to get the timers out of the fish box, too.

You can get the relay box. It works with any head unit.
If it is old, I probably don't even have replacement board for it.
The Jebao works with either analog or PWM signal, but the Tunzes only work on analog.
The small Kessils are not controllable and you can only do on/off.
The good thing is that the signal is converted in the relay box, so if you get a new one and wants analog signal, I can send you one with analog signal. Just let me know before I ship it.
Roberto.
