Electrical plugs
Electrical plugs
Hi folks. Just got my reef angel, looking forward to playing with it. I asked for aussie plugs when I ordered it, but the relay box has come with american plugs. Is it possible to swap them out as I dont really want 8 bulky adapters sitting on the box.

Re: Electrical plugs
Unfortunately not. I know Roberto's working on an international relay box but I don't know the eta.
I'm a fellow Aussie (Brisbane) and I agree with the adapters so this is what I did. (See pics)
I got 16 American power cables off eBay and wired them to power points as you can see.
Let me know if you have any questions. I'm more then happy to help

Re: Electrical plugs
I thought it was an ideal way of converting to Australian without modifying the relay box. :p
Was pretty cost effective too and allows for the cables to be run neatly as well.

Thats a great idea egadget. just need to see if I have the room. I thought I had read elsewhere that RA boxes came with aussie plugs if you needed em. Oh well, time to see how I can come up with a workaround.
Re: Electrical plugs
egadgetjr, I think i'm going to have to run with your idea, it looks very neat. Any tips? Should be relatively straight forward though I think. BTW, what is the white control box for?

Not really... All I can say is think ahead and plan it on paper. I didn't, and have screwed up my order. and can't be bothered just yet to fix it up. (my points are basically numbered 3-4-1-2, 7-8-5-6 then 4-3-2-1, 8-7-6-5 cause I didn't think aheadsabo wrote:egadgetjr, I think i'm going to have to run with your idea, it looks very neat. Any tips? Just go with what you think would be best suited to your sump area. PM me with some ideas if you want, and I'll help you out as much as possible. Where abouts are you based?
The white box is the control box for my LED's, I've set it up so i have all 6 drivers on a different channel and the switches are so I can switch between Primary (Reef Angel), Secondary (a little cheap dimming controller) and Tertiary (the Potentiometers)
Re: Electrical plugs
I'm in perth. Just need to find some 3 pin plugs with the cable coming out the side. Surprisingly difficult to find.
Re: Electrical plugs
Hmm, I just realised my wp40's and likely the dc-6000 im gonna get have those power supply cables that I can just use the american ones and plug straight in. then the rest of the stuff im just gonna replace the plugs, saves stuffing around making a power board. Only major thing will be the lighting fixture, which unless I change my mind has its own controller so it can get plugged straight into a normal power socket.
