Main unit problems, exposed to water

Post by Lionofish »

Ugh, I think I killed my brand new reef angel. :(

While setting it up I had it mounted inside my cabinet. I ran into a return problem where the top of my tank started to overflow. It looks like some water dripped down and got into my reef angel unit. First the red status light went on and the LCD failed to respond. I ended up opening it up an found a good bit if water inside. I've dried it out but it doesn't seem to be working now... The relay is responding strangely and the LCD still doesn't respond. Any suggestions, or am I screwed?

Thanks...

I've heard that sealing it in a bag of rice will help absorb the water, but I think that has to be done as soon as possible.

This post was bout 3 hours ago so I don't know if that's to long, but I guess it won't hurt to try it.

Thanks for the advice. I tried the rice thing and it seems to have dried it out. Still not working though... Now when I connect it to te relay the LCD screen isn't working and none if the relay power outlets turn on. I don't think the relay is the problem as that was never exposed to water.
