Time reset after connecting expansion hub

Post by davaraj »

I have been running the RA+without any problems for the last few months. I have a dimming expansion module and a lunar dimmable module connected for the last one month and everything was fine. Yesterday I received a expansion hub and connected it to the RA+ Relay box. I do have a relay expansion and another relay box. But these are not connected to the expansion hub as yet. I notice that RA+ head unit now has the date and time wrong. The date is showing 31/12/12 and the time is 5 am. The actual time here is 7.30 am. Sine all the equipment are connected to the relay box, because of the time and date change, some are not switched on. I have reset the date and time just now. I wonder why this happened? Could the expansion hub cause this problem? Do I have to insert any code to use the expansion hub? I have removed the expansion hub from the relay box.

No, there is no code needed.
Can you try connecting it again and see if the problem happens again?

I have connected the expansion hub this morning. So far OK. Let me wait for another 24 hours. If it works Ok I'll inform you.

I had a loose battery connection that would cause this too. If the ra got moved it would lose the time...if it happens again i would check the solder connections on the battery terminals

Thank you for that info. Will check the solder connections, if the unit resets date and time again.

It's been 24 hours since the expansion hub was connected to the RA unit. So far the unit is behaving well. No time and date reset so far.

I have had this issue maybe two or three times and I thought it might be connected to some problem with the USB port on the relay box. If I wiggle the connection (going to the expansion hub) it freezes the controller and starts boot looping until I remove the USB contact. It has also happened on a couple of occasions without touching the controller or USB.

Although I have not recreated the date/time reset when doing this so it could probably be the battery connection causing the problem. I just connected the date/time reset with my faulty USB :/
