a friend of mine has a used Reef angel for sale can I use the power strip off of another unit to add to mine?

You need a relay expansion module for it.

Not on the one that is on the relay exp. but if the new one is analog and your current is pwm (or vice versa) you could switch which is main and which is expansion...
