Flickering

Post by adkelly »

Yesterday the lights started flickering/flashing on my Reef Angel Plus. I haven't made any changes to the system and am at a loss at to what might have caused this and what I need to do to fix it.

The lights are DYI. I'm using a PWM signal. I have 9 drivers total. 6 drivers power the blue lights, 3 power the whites. I have tried adjusting the waveform on the dimming channel but this didn't help anything. I need to try and isolate the problem so I can the lights operational again. Right now they're like strobe lights.

Any ideas?

Are all 9 drivers causing the LEDs to flicker?

Weird, so both channels are doing that?
What happens if you make the channels 100%?
Can you test the voltage in the at the dimming ports without the drivers connected?
What happens if you disconnect the drivers from the controller and use a 9V battery to inject the signal?

We totally disconnected the lights from the controller and still had the flickering so I'm guessing that our issue isn't controller related.

We're not sure how to use a 9volt battery to inject the signal but if you have any other ideals are all ears.

Thanks for your help Roberto. As always your customer service is top notch. ;)

That is what I was thinking.
Some people have had flickering issues when they used not enough LEDs in each string.
Which drivers are you using and how many LEDs you have in each string?

Agreed. Most drivers has an over/under protection mode that makes the lights flicker.

The lights custom built using all products from stevesleds. Each driver is powering either 5, 6 or 7 leds. I wouldn't think it would be over/under protection since the fixtures have been running correctly for 1 1/2 years.
Thanks for any help or solutions you might have.
