Replacing head unit board

Post by howaboutme »

I will be replacing the board for my RA to a + board and wanted to ask you all if there is anything I need to be concerned about. I have not seen a thread about this or any manuals. I have been chatting w/ Roberto via PM but wanted to post this in the larger forum so as to not bother him w/ these questions. :)

Here is what I am assuming:

- Disconnect all cables leading to the head unit
- Open head unit
- Pull out the screen (I assume it's snug but not too difficult?)
- Somehow disconnect the board from the head unit. I haven't looked at it closely yet to know exactly how)
- Do everything above in reverse but w/ the new + board
- Load the initial memory settings
- Load my code
- Calibrate probe

Anything I need to be aware of?

Thanks in advance!

I've never done it but I have been inside the RA. Theres nothing magical. It should be quite simple. Take pics and post them after, I'm sure many others would like to see the process.

Yep, will try to take as many picts as possible. Hopefully I can find some time between family stuff to do it this weekend.

I also got a Jebao cable to hopefully just run 1 wp-25 in the tank and replaced my 2 koralias. So many possibilities, so little time.

Ok, replaced the board just now. No problems whatsoever until...see below. Roberto, help! It took less than 15 minutes.

Here is how it looks w/ the unit open

Here, I took the screen off and snapped it onto the + board. Post cut the picture off and doesn't show the new board on the right...

There are 4 screws at the corners that the board is attached to.

Here is the new board screwed back onto the head unit.

Here is everything put back together.

Here is my problem. The screen is blank! I detached it and reattached it again and restarted the head unit and still this. Roberto!!??? What's the problem?

Everything else seems to be working fine. I obviously have to use my android app or the portal to do anything.

Side note, Roberto. The ph probe seems to be working better. I have NOT calibrated it but it is already showing numbers that are more like what it should be. I will calibrate this weekend (or whenever I get fluid) and PM you about this.

Do a search on the screen issue. You have a new board and new memory. You may have an old screen and need the correct setting applied.

Well..I'm usually good at googling before I post but...You're right. I had to add this:

Code: Select all

InternalMemory.LCDID_write(255);
For Gen1 Screens.

Thanks Lee!
